Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 14, 2026
Coast Communications ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you use the Coast Communications Speed Test service (the "Service"), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Definitions
- "Personal Information" means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is reasonably capable of being associated with a particular individual.
- "Service" refers to the Speed Test tool hosted at this website, including all front-end and back-end components.
- "Usage Data" means data collected automatically during or generated by the use of the Service.
- "You" (also referred to as "your") means the individual accessing or using the Service.
2. Information We Collect
When you run a speed test, the following categories of information are temporarily processed in real time:
2.1 Network Information
- IP Address — Your public IP address is detected to display it on screen and to look up approximate connection details.
- IP Version — Whether your connection uses IPv4 or IPv6.
- ISP / Network Provider — Your Internet Service Provider name as reported by public IP databases.
- Organization — The organization name associated with your IP address block.
- Autonomous System Number (ASN) — The network routing identifier associated with your IP.
- Proxy / VPN / Hosting Detection — Whether your IP is identified as originating from a VPN, proxy, or hosting provider.
2.2 Approximate Location
- City, Region, Country — Determined from your IP address via a server-side geolocation lookup. We do not access your device's GPS, Wi-Fi positioning, or any other precise location technology.
- Timezone — The timezone associated with your IP address.
2.3 Speed Test Results
- Download / Upload Speed — Throughput measurements calculated entirely within your browser's Web Worker.
- Ping (Latency) — Round-trip time to our server.
- Jitter — Variation in successive ping times.
2.4 Technical Information
- HTTP Headers — Standard headers (User-Agent, Accept-Language, Referer) may be received by our web server as part of normal HTTP requests. These are not logged or stored individually.
- Connection Protocol — Whether your request arrives over HTTP or HTTPS.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely for the following purposes:
- To perform the speed test and display real-time results in your browser.
- To display your connection information (IP, ISP, location, ASN) during your session.
- To detect potential proxy or VPN usage that may affect test accuracy.
- To maintain the reliability, security, and performance of the Service.
- To diagnose technical issues and protect against malicious use.
4. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not store your IP address, test results, or any personal information in a database after your session ends.
- We do not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or any tracking technologies for advertising, analytics, or profiling purposes.
- We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
- We do not create user accounts, profiles, or persistent identifiers.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any other directly identifying personal information.
- We do not access your device's GPS, camera, microphone, contacts, files, or any other device sensor or data.
- We do not perform behavioral tracking, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking of any kind.
5. Data Retention
All speed test data is processed in real time and exists only in your browser's volatile memory (RAM) during the active test session. Once you close the page, navigate away, or start a new test, all previous result data is discarded.
Our server processes incoming test traffic (download/upload payloads) without logging individual requests or results. The binary data used in the test is randomly generated, contains no personal information, and is discarded immediately after transmission.
Standard web server access logs, if enabled by the hosting environment, may temporarily contain IP addresses and request timestamps as part of routine server operations. These logs are not used for tracking purposes and are automatically rotated and purged according to the hosting provider's retention schedule.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party services. Each processes data only as described below:
ip-api.com
Purpose: Server-side IP geolocation and ISP lookup.
Data shared: Your IP address is sent from our server (not your browser) to ip-api.com's API to retrieve ISP, organization, ASN, city, region, country, timezone, and proxy/hosting flags.
Privacy info: ip-api.com Legal
Google Fonts
Purpose: The Inter typeface is loaded from Google's font CDN for visual presentation.
Data shared: Your browser makes a standard HTTP request to Google's servers to download font files. Google may collect IP address and standard request headers.

We do not use any advertising networks, social media plugins, analytics services (such as Google Analytics), or any other third-party tracking tools.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information processed by the Service:
- The Service supports HTTPS (TLS encryption) for all communications between your browser and our server. We strongly recommend accessing the Service over HTTPS.
- The test payloads consist of randomly generated binary data that carries no personal or identifiable information.
- All speed test computations occur within your browser using a sandboxed Web Worker, ensuring that measurement data never leaves your device except as network traffic to our test server.
- The IP geolocation lookup is performed server-side, meaning your IP is not exposed to any third-party JavaScript running in your browser.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Service does not require any personal information, account creation, or registration to use.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at the address below and we will take steps to remove such information.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Because we do not store personal data from the Speed Test beyond your active session, many of these rights are satisfied by design:
9.1 All Users
- Right to Know / Access — You have the right to know what personal information we collect. This Privacy Policy describes all categories of information processed.
- Right to Deletion — Since we do not store personal data, there is nothing to delete. Your test data is discarded automatically when your session ends.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale — We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
9.2 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act), California residents have additional rights. We provide the following disclosures:
- Categories of PI collected: Internet or other electronic network activity information (IP address), geolocation data (approximate, city-level only). See Section 2 for details.
- Business purpose for collection: Providing the speed test service and displaying your connection information.
- Data sold or shared for targeted advertising: None. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
- Sensitive personal information: We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under the CPRA.
- Retention: Session-duration only. No persistent storage.
To exercise any CCPA/CPRA rights, contact us using the information in Section 14.
9.3 European Economic Area / UK Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you access the Service from the EEA or the UK:
- Legal Basis: We process your IP address and derived connection data based on our legitimate interest in providing the requested speed test service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Data Controller: Coast Communications.
- International Transfers: Your IP address is sent from our server to ip-api.com for geolocation. This may involve a transfer outside your jurisdiction.
- Your Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. Since we do not store personal data beyond your active session, these rights are inherently satisfied.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
9.4 Other Jurisdictions
If you are located in Canada, Australia, Brazil, or any other jurisdiction with data protection laws, you may have similar rights. Our minimal-data design is intended to comply with the principles of data minimization, purpose limitation, and storage limitation across all jurisdictions. Contact us with any jurisdiction-specific requests.
10. Do Not Track Signals
The Service does not track users across third-party websites, does not use cookies, and does not engage in any behavioral tracking. As a result, we respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals by default — there is no tracking to disable.
11. Links to Other Websites
This Privacy Policy applies only to the Coast Communications Speed Test service. Our website may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., ip-api.com, Google). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
12. Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that both the Speed Test service and this Privacy Policy are accessible to people with disabilities. The Service is designed with semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, keyboard navigation support, and a reduced-motion preference. If you experience any accessibility issues, please contact us.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
